Frequently Asked Questions:

1.  What is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, a program designed to nurture ALL mothers of children from birth through kindergarten.  It’s a place where moms have the opportunity to make new friends, share experiences, laugh together and learn trusted principles pertaining to womanhood, marriage, and parenting.

MOPS also provides opportunities for social outings geared specifically for preschool aged children and their mothers.

MOPS is a non-denominational Christian organization meeting in the United States, Canada, and numerous other countries meeting the needs of ALL moms — Christian or not!  The group is fun — lots of laughing and full of creative activities, interesting guest speakers and support from other moms like you, as well as, mentor moms… moms who have all survived the preschool years (yes, we will survive!).

2.  What is a MOPS meeting like?
Murrieta MOPS meetings always begin with FOOD!  At each of our meetings, moms enjoy a chance to socialize with other moms — a chance to just be you!  We have a short time for announcements, a Mentor Mom devotional, and either a guest speaker (on a topic moms would be interested in) or a creative activity concluding with small group discussion allowing you to get to know other moms more closely.  Each meeting will explore a different facet of the year’s theme.  We also have other opportunities to socialize outside of the regular meetings.

3.  What is the 2008-2009 MOPS theme?
The Adventures in Mothering theme equips moms to learn more about themselves as they go through the motherhood adventure. We will celebrate and embrace the fun in the experiences, even in the midst of daily mom life that stretches us emotionally and spiritually.

With the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the amusement park, motherhood might feel like a sensory overload. But we will enjoy this together and learn more about ourselves as women, moms and leaders.

The dimensions of the theme’s Bible verse expresses how God is with us in our mothering adventure. The knowledge that God is with us on the mothering adventure gives hope. God’s love is big enough for the magnitude of the adventure!

4.  What about my children?
While you are in the meeting time with other moms, your children will be well cared for in our MOPPETS program.  This program provides care for children from infancy through kindergarten.  The children are divided in age groups and are involved in planned activities and free play.  The MOPPETS workers provide physical, social and creative activities, as well as, spiritual growth time.  MOPPETS is provided during all MOPS meetings and the cost is included in the membership.

5.  What do I need to know?
Murrieta MOPS meets every 1st and 3rd Wednesday, September through May.  Meetings begin at 9:30am and end at 11:30am.
Children can be left in the care of the MOPPETS program beginning at 9:15am.

There are semester dues part of which go to pay for creative activities, childcare, guest speaker fees, and other meeting expenses.  Once per year MOPS International requires a membership fee which entitles members to a 1 year subscription to MomSense, MOPS bi-monthly magazine, the current year’s theme book, special online membership benefits updated each month.  If the semester dues are a financial burden to your family, please do not let that prevent you from being a part of Murrieta MOPS.  All inquiries of scholarship and/or payment options are kept strictly confidential.
